I started writing this album during lockdown, having learned I was going to become a father for the first time. The time allowed me to confront a lot of issues from my past, and I was determined not to pass those on to my son. ‘Instant Coffee’ is a song about that process of healing, and in my case learning that there are no quick fixes, it’s OK if it takes time.
The song is about the feeling of guilt from having someone waiting for you to get fully ready for a relationship. With big drums and basslines, the groove takes inspiration from a ship sailing through a storm, with the last chorus seeing it breaking out into the sunshine again.
Claudio Piselli is a talented jazz musician, known for his exceptional skills as a vibraphone player and composer. His music captivates audiences with its amazing power and soulful melodies.
Midge hails from a small town in the North East of England; Stockton-on-Tees. Having spent his early years of music production dabbling in various genres and producing under different aliases his recent sound leans more toward progressive house and techno, which has gained him support from the likes of Cristoph, Grum, Solar Stone, Omid16b, Sam Paganini and many more.
No matter how much I can think about life, about how to live it, it just keeps on moving. Indecision, stagnation and ambivalence are illusions in the face of the moving train of life. Outbound is a song about my own relationship to time.
